The ISIC Association is the non-profit organization behind the International Student Identity Card (ISIC). The ISIC card is the only internationally accepted proof of bona fide student status. First established in 1953, the ISIC card is now issued to students  in IRAN and over 130 countries. (You can see the list of countries on this page)

The ISIC card is not exclusive. All bona fide students over the age of 12, regardless of their nationality, race, gender or religion can purchase an ISIC card at an affordable price. Via one single card, ISIC students gain preferential and discounted access to products, services and experiences relevant to all aspects of student life. ISIC Missions

Related to this, the ISIC card has been endorsed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) since 1968.

The ISIC card is managed at a global level by the ISIC Global Office B.V., based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

What are the benefits of owning a International Student Identity Card (ISIC)?

The card is intended for you to identify yourself as student in 135 countries.
The primary advantage is that you can avail a lot of discounts as mentioned in the quote.
I have personally used the discounts to visit many tourist places in Europe (in 2012) which otherwise would have costed me about 100 Euros extra.
To name a few, you can visit the famous Louvre Museum in Paris for free after 6 PM if you have it.
You can visit Colosseum and Roman Forum at half the ticket price in Rome.
In Germany, you get about 20-30% discount in nearly all the museums.

 

Is there any real benefit of having an International Students Identity Card (ISIC)?

There are many programs, admission fees, and memberships that are discounted if you are a student. Having some verifiable proof you are a student will help with that.

What requirement needed to apply ISIC card?

To purchase your International .student Identity Card go to www.isic.org. Read through the entire FAQs page. To answer your specific question click
on the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) tab. Click on What documents do I need to apply for the card. You will see a list of documents. Your can purchase the card online or visit the local office which may be a college, university or travel office in the country where you currently reside. The current price for the card is $25.00 and includes many student discounts.

 

Should I get an ISIC student card or ISE student card? Can I get both? What are the differences?

What are some tips for students to save money?

Students can save money with an International Student Identity Card (ISIC) that offers so many discounts including travel and shopping. Other youth discounts can be combined with your ISIC discount in some cases giving you even more savings. Should I get PyCharm or PyCharm Edu?

As their website reads: “Students and teaching staff members are eligible to use all JetBrains tools for free upon verification based on domain or ISIC card.”

So, if you’re a student get the edu version, it’s full fledged and free. The community one has limited functions.

 

Is Polish Student Card accepted form of student ID in Berlin and provides discounts on museums, transportation, food et cetera?

Museums and other venues like this – probably yes. You can make a ISIC card to be sure.

There are no discounts like that for transportation in Berlin. You only get a student discount if you are enrolled at a Berlin university.
Discounts for food are also mostly unheard of.

 

Loyalty Programs : Why are there no popular nationwide student discount card companies?

There are some.
ISIC is probably the most popular in Europe.
As with any discount cards projects it’s really hard to make sure that participating companies do provide discounts promised. Such a program requires big infrastructure. Discount card projects are dinasours these days. They need to compete with all tpe of loyalty programs and projects like Groupon (not matter if Groupon itself is a good business).
Thus while having some sense for students those programs are not that good business.
